OK, I’m goanna be honest here: I really don’t have much of an update for you all this week.
I mean, I got a little further in The Ravage, so I guess that’s something. But by “a little further,” I really do mean a little further. Progress this week has been extremely limited, and my plans for the immediate future are basically unchanged from last week.
This is largely due to a loss of motivation in the days leading up to my trip back home from my holiday family visit, as well as some stressful and tiring travel delays as I was making the trip. I was delayed nearly 2 entire days going back home: I was supposed to return on Tuesday, but didn’t end up getting back until Thursday. This, of course, involved two nights of last-minute hotel stays, a lot of arranging rides and wandering around airports, and me getting barely any sleep.
All of this added up to me getting practically no work done over the last few days. And over the past weekend, before I took off, I barely got a few hundred words down. Not my best week overall for productivity.
And now, as I finally start getting settled down again, I’m pretty sure I’m coming down with something. Of course. So we’ll see how bad that gets, and how much writing I get done while sick.
I’m hoping I can make up for this relative lack of production sometime in the next few weeks. It almost certainly won’t be tonight or tomorrow, but soon I’d like to start writing at least 5,000 words per day on weekends: that’s one 2,500-word session in the morning and one in the evening, which I think is quite doable. Along with that, sometime in the next few weeks I’d like to finally try and break my single-day writing record. Right now that record sits just above 7,500: I’d like to try and see if I can achieve a 10,000-word day. Again, though, that’s an optimistic figure. We’ll see how things go.
I know for sure I’d like to get The Ravage done soon: I’m hoping by the January 20 update, it’ll be done (well, the first draft, at least). Then I can focus on the new Nightmares Inc. ending, along with finally finishing draft 1 of The 2nd Realm. And then, maybe in early February, I can get to work on another new novel. Oh, and the Kosan rewrite, of course.
Anyhow, have fun, stay safe and keep reading.
